Mixtapes: Scorp Da Boy – Weed Out x Weed Out Too! x Weed Out Tree

While I don’t smoke anymore after a out of body experience with a 4ft bong where I spoke to God and felt like my body de-molecularized and then re-molecularized….which later led to me later failing a drug.  I still have the soul of stoner and whole heartily enjoy the music of my stoner brother and sisters.  I’ve just fully devoted myself to alcohol these days.  So being that‘s it’s 4/20 Scorp has a new tape Tales From The Kush: Kush Keeper Special Edition out and he’s opening up for Slaughterhouse tonight at Troc I wanted to throw my support behind one of Philly’s favorite stoners and also my own.  Especially, since we have met a couple times and he may have very well provided me with one of my favorite stoner memories when he performed in front of a bunch of kids at this block party.  I don’t even know what to even say about that aside from the fact it was hilarious and me and Big Oc Diesel still laugh about it to this day.  My homie DJ NoPhrillz worked on the 2nd Weed Out too.  Anyway, tracklisting and link after the jump for all 3 tapes with exception of the first Weed Out.

Mixtapes: Random Axe (Black Milk x Sean Price x Guilty Simpson)

With the Black Milk show tonight at Silk City I figured I should at least go back and post some of these mixtapes from one of my favorite artist in Black Milk.  I’m not even sure it’s fair to even call him just an artist as he a great producer, rapper, and performer.  As a result, I’m really looking forward to seeing him perform again in Philly, no less, as his album release party for Album Of The Year still remains one of my favorite shows ever.  While, I do love Random Axe I did feel like something was lost by not seeing each of the group’s great performances perform by themself…I don’t know that may have just been me though.  Anyway, if you don’t already have Album Of The Year or even the Random Axe album I would definitely recommend both of those.  Black Milk’s Black & Brown w/ Danny Brown is great too.  Since, we’re talking about Random Axe why not bring back some of these mixtapes from Sean Price and Guilty Simpson as well.  I really love how there’s like 3 legitimately great super groups now in Slaughterhouse, Random Axe, and the newly formed M.A.R.S. now.  It almost makes me want to punch someone through a school bus Sean P style.  Look out for my piece on Sean P tentatively titled How I Became A Sean P Fan  & Got Punched Through A School Bus coming soon too.  Also, the long overdue piece on Black Milk as well.  For now enjoy the mixtapes from Black Milk, Sean Price, and Guilty Simpson or Random Axe as they are collectively known as after the jump.  I need Mic Tyson like now too.

Mixtape: Antwan Davis x Wes Manchild – Anita Baker Soul Inspiration #ABSI

Unfortunately, since I passed out on the couch last night like Nicky’s wife in Casino I didn’t get to download this when it was first released earlier this morning.  Nonetheless, I’m definitely looking forward to this new project from Antwan Davis & Wes Manchild, especially after the songs I’ve heard.  You may have heard of Wes Manchild through some of the work he’s done with Chill Moody producing the bulk of West Chilly except for a few tracks produced by Hank McCoy.  While, I like that project, especially after seeing Chill perform it live a couple of times with live band I like some of Wes Manchild’s more soulful production on Antwan Davis’ Beyond The Music.  I’ve just always been a fan of my soulful production and grimy shit…don’t ask lol.  With that said, I feel like Wes is great at that shit and his style of  production works beautiful with the skills of talented up and coming artist Antwan Davis.  So, of course, i’m looking forward to seeing what they come up with on this project…and I mean they’re using Anita Baker samples…ANITA FUCKING BAKER SON!!!  So being that I have a bit of an old soul i’m definitely looking forward to checking this out.  Anyway, tracklisting and link after the jump for the new tape.

Mixtapes: Freeway

I always like using different shit to try to shake me out of my sometimes apathetic and unmotivated  ways.  At times I almost feel like Nihilist…you know like from The Big Lebowski.  That’s a whole other story.  THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FUCK A STRANGER IN THE ASS LARRY!!!  Moving on: there’s a Freeway show tonight at Tacony Billiards that my man Big O is hosting and simply put you should be there because Freeway puts on a great show and my main Big O is a great host.  Maybe one of these days i’ll finally finish the piece on Freeway, whom is one of my favorite artist and just a cool ass dude.  Anyway, tracklisting and link after the jump for Freeway’s Month of Madness and links to some of his older tapes.  Also, be sure to check out Freeway’s most recent tape The Intermission here.

Tellemmyname Sosa – Your Life My Lyrics (Prod. by Araabmuzik) x Super Vicious (Prod. by Araabmuzik) Ft. Mike Knox

Two songs that previously leaked off Tellemmyname Sosa’s new project The Golden Boy that dropped today both produced by Araabmuzik.  Now that the whole project is out in his entirety i’ll finally give them a listen.  I hate listening to leaked songs…leaked projects on the other hand I can’t listen to fast enough.

Mixtapes: DJ Curt x Tellemmyname Sosa – The Golden Boy x Everything’s A Go

One of the few good things that came from the fuckery that was the Facebook Q&A shit last year…or maybe two years ago was I got to find out that Tellemmyname Sosa was one of DJ Curt’s favorite of the some of the very good up and coming artist in Philly.  I never claim to know everything about music or everything in general, but I listen to a lot of music and follow the advice of people I respect like UE Radio’s Fix Ya Focus Radio’s own DJ Curt.  So his co-sign alone was enough for me to check out Tellemmyname Sosa.  Unfortunately, I still haven’t had a chance to check out of whole lot of Sosa’s music, but what I have heard I have liked.  So after unsuccessfully trying to get my hands on his last project i’m definitely looking forward to checking out this new project of his.  Which apparently, has two songs produced by Araabmuzik…I was already looking forward to hearing the project and that just piques my interest a little more.  Anyway, tracklisting and link after the jump for the new tape along with Everything’s A Go that I decided to bring back.

Video x Mixtape: Theodore Grams – We Shall Not Be Moved x Dog Whistle

The 5th Theodore Grams mixtape to be released last year and easily his biggest landed the Chiddy Bang affiliate on illroots.  Even though I didn’t listen to it…you know because he released FIVE mixtapes in one year with not nearly the promotion they deserved i’m sure it’s great.  As we finally got sit down last week I can assure you there’s more great music from Mr. Grams on the way.  I usually tend to find that people that have a good head on their shoulders usually tend to make great music…not all the time, but most of the time and that’s definitely the case with Mr. Grams.  I really fucks with the video that Ace of SameDna directed too.  Tracklisting and link for Dog Whistle after the jump.
